Discovery | Annual Meeting Rochester

20240515T1045 20240515T1130 America/Chicago Why We Removed "Expand My Results" (And Believe You Should Too) Since August 2022, the University of Tennessee has been on a journey to make discovery more inclusive and less biased. As part of this journey we made a decision to remove "Expand My Results" and default to showing everything available to users, regardless of whether we owned the content in full-text. What we learned from this process was stunning in terms of a better understanding of what users really want from a library search, how indexing differences affect the brief and full results screens, and the impact that poor metadata can have on search results in Primo. Ultimately, we believe the discovery experience now leverages the best of what Primo and CDI offer to provide a much more inclusive and comprehensive search experience. Resource Sharing numbers are through the roof, and (to us) prove that this method is working. Come hear more as we share our experience!
