20240516T1000 20240516T1045 America/Chicago Assessing Geographic Diversity in Your Collection: From Alma to Data Visualizations George Mason University Libraries has long wanted to assess the diversity of our collections but faced a common problem of diversity assessments: the limited availability of DEIA data describing our materials. We chose to approach the process through two test projects focusing on geographic information, with a goal of using existing MARC data to streamline the data collection process. The projects ultimately used a combination of Alma, Alma Analytics, Alma Data Visualizations, and a few widely available third-party tools to complete the assessments. This presentation will discuss the successes and limitations of this approach, as well as key lessons learned. In addition, we’ll explore how to harness some of Alma’s existing data visualization tools to make your data shine.
