20240517T1000 20240517T1045 America/Chicago Is It a Perfect Match? Exploring Relevancy Ranking Through User Perspectives San Francisco State University's students and faculty can discover immense resources from both the campus library and the California State University (CSU) libraries consortium thanks to a Unified Library Management System. In addition, they can request items from other libraries through Rapido. A question was raised when a course reserve title from another campus showed up at the top in a known item search: Why and how does Primo VE prioritize a consortium resource over locally available ones? Looking into Discovery Configuration and the Ex Libris Knowledge Base, the few boosting parameters did not provide a clear answer. Presenters will share how two librarians bridge system work, resource management, and user testing to adequately expose local offerings while promoting consortial borrowing. The presentation also proposes ways academic libraries can engage with the NISO Open Discovery Initiative.
