20240515T1145 20240515T1230 America/Chicago Breaking the Paradigm: RFID in Academic Libraries

The cost of modern RFID is pennies on the dollar from its tattletape/electromagnetic precursor, and RFID is a greener, more environmentally sound solution. With the vast interoperability and flexibility of RFID, inventory and shelf management is immediate and reliable, materials are easily locatable when students need them, and gates are designed for much wider aisles. RFID means valuable staff time is freed for meaningful interactions, and borrowers can check out stacks of materials in a few seconds, encouraging self-sufficiency, convenience, and success. RFID allows academic libraries to lead the pack and stay on track with their primary purpose: to be modern teaching spaces for both self-directed and collaborative learning while supporting research, teaching, innovation, experimentation, curriculum development, and discovery for a world-class education.
