In the Fall of 2023, over 4,000 incoming students were issued campus-owned iPads at the University of Nevada, Reno as part of a digital equity initiative. The Libraries were approached to determine if Alma could manage large-scale student allocation, appropriate letter handling, device depreciating value over time, and reassignment of those devices to a short-term checkout pool. It was determined that a new Alma Library could be created that would accomplish all of these needs as well as bridging the gap between library functionality and campus priorities. This session will cover the complexities of using Alma for non-library fulfillment and inventory, and inspire others to develop possible institutional and library partnerships.
