Diving into Uncharted Waters: Embracing Change and Forging New Partnerships in Interlibrary Loan Management

Session Information

In the whirlwind of change, our library underwent a significant transformation, opting for the Alma system amidst a period of unprecedented growth. This shift not only marked a transition in Interlibrary Loan (ILL) management but also for the Library as a whole. As newcomers to the ILL landscape, my colleague and I found ourselves in uncharted territory, stepping into roles previously helmed by a seasoned supervisor. Unlike ILLIAD’s system, the straightforward ability to request through Primo brought about an unprecedented influx of activity, challenging us to adapt swiftly to the evolving landscape. Concurrently, the transition severed established connections with other ILL departments in Virginia, requiring us to re establish and redefine our collaborative networks. Join us as we explore how, in the face of change, our library not only weathered the storm but also seized the opportunity to cultivate meaningful partnerships and a new path for our department.
