Using Alma With OCLC GreenGlass for a Pilot Project: Collaborative Weeding Project with the UA-Little Rock Nursing Department
In 2021, our Library's Collection and Downsizing Taskforce (CAD) accepted a charge to explore methods to develop a systematic way to identify and withdraw a large number of unused and outdated materials from the library's print collection. After much research, the solution was to adopt a web-based analytic tool, OCLC GreenGlass, to guide the library's weeding and retention project. Soon after receiving the initial analysis of GreenGlass data, the campus Nursing department contacted the library regarding their upcoming accreditation visit scheduled for the fall of 2022. The CAD Team used Alma Analytics reports, exports, and repository searches, along with GreenGlass data sets, to guide the library's weeding and retention project for the RT (Nursing) collection. This pilot project is a springboard to evaluate and weed the entire print collection using the combined data from the ALMA and OCLC tools.
