Bridging Together Data Using Discovery Import Profiles and Custom Search Profiles

Session Information

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library’s Special Collections administers multiple digital repositories to facilitate access to primary source materials and has utilized Alma and Primo VE for management and discovery of rare book records. This has required users to navigate different, siloed discovery experiences depending on where content is housed and has required users to toggle between interfaces to do a holistic search of Special Collections materials. This presentation will show how discovery import profiles were leveraged with OAI import protocols, search profiles, and local data scopes in Primo VE to bridge data from these varied systems and create a single interface through which users can discover Special Collections materials and connect directly to primary source content in the other repositories. Attendees will leave this presentation knowing how to apply the tools necessary to create more curated discovery experiences using data within Alma and external resources.
