Shifting Horizons: Fondren Library’s Transition From GFA’s Library Archival Software (LAS) to CaiaSoft for Off-Site Storage Management

In the summer of 2023, Fondren Library at Rice University migrated its off-site storage solution from GFA's Library Archival Software (LAS) to CaiaSoft. The presentation will cover the migration process, highlighting critical technologies, potential challenges and share key learnings. We will discuss integrating Alma with CaiaSoft and how it compares to our integration with LAS and share our experience using CaiaSoft during its ten months in production. The presentation will cover the workflows we use for delivery, accession, and refile and how they can be streamlined with the new system. Additionally, we'll delve into the business decision to migrate to Caiasoft and weigh the pros and cons of other possible solutions.
