Improve Discovery in Primo VE With Custom Resource Types
The University of Tennessee believes that offering more distinct resource types in the Primo interface provides users with a better, more targeted discovery experience. The Primo VE resource types that come "out of the box" include some fairly broad categories such as book, video, and audio. Before committing to a Primo VE migration at the end of 2019, we had to figure out how to separate print books from e-books, and also how to create resource types for DVD, VHS, Film, Streaming Video, Streaming Audio, Audio CD, Cassette, and LP Record. We also updated the resource type icons with unique new icons for each new resource type. Doing this work took some effort but we are generally happy with the results. Join me as I share how we configured these resource types along with the occasional "care and feeding" required by this setup.
