Strategy | Annual Meeting Minneapolis Grand
May 17, 2024 01:45 PM - 02:15 PM(America/Chicago)
20240517T1345 20240517T1415 America/Chicago From Google to ChatGPT – libraries and the tale of two revolutions

Back in the early 2000's Google transformed our approach to searching and interacting with content. It sent seismic shifts through library services and student expectations. But libraries survived and even thrived.

And now, AI.

Can we draw parallels between these two eras? What are today's equivalents of Google's revolutionary ranking algorithms, SEO, and simplified UX? Is Prompt Engineering the new skill librarians need to master?

We might have more questions than answers, but we'll aim to draw the path toward a future of Academic AI, explore how it might differ from general-purpose AI, and suggest some practical directions to consider.
